It was one of those rare autumn Sundays, when rain clouds gave way to perfect blue skies and the sunshine was strong enough to keep the chill at bay. But it seems we weren’t the only ones heading out to fulfill a New England tradition. There were long lines to buy our apple-picking bags and even longer lines for the famous sugar and cinnamon apple cider doughnuts —truly worth the 40-minute wait. Music from local bands performed for the patient patrons as families and kids made good use of the hayrides, playgrounds, and the petting zoo. Rows and rows of apple trees offered more varieties than we could remember ever enjoying and a country store filled in the gaps, letting you buy what you may have missed on your apple-picking excursion (along with fresh pie, local honey, a handful of other goodies!). A large collection of pumpkins will easily fill any requests for Halloween. I can attest the trees were full with apples for the picking!
