I’d had just one dance lesson before the pandemic shut down the studio and the world. I practiced the only steps I’d been taught … a waltz. For two years I practiced the same steps in my home office, between Zoom meetings, and writing assignments. Sure, dancing in a small space made me feel dizzy and ridiculous, but determined and optimistic, too.
Now, back in the studio, with a mask and dance shoes, I am once again feeling the whoosh of my glide across the ballroom floor. I can feel wafting wind at every turn. I focus on my feet and try the new steps. We’re still in a pandemic world but maybe it’s dancing with us and not against us? Go for it!
